TERMS
Terms of Service
Effective: July 13, 2026 · Applies to the Aescle iOS app
Read this first. Aescle is a decision-support tool, not a medical device or a substitute for a clinician. It surfaces patterns and estimates from public research; it does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. Use it to inform conversations with your physician — not to replace them.
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using the Aescle app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What Aescle Is
Aescle is a personal mortality dashboard. It composes publicly available actuarial and clinical research — life tables, cause-of-death distributions, cohort-study risk modifiers — with inputs you provide (demographics, history, vitals, bloodwork, genome) and data you allow it to read from Apple Health to surface a personalized risk profile and prioritized list of modifiable factors.
The app computes your profile on your device. There is no login, and we do not operate a server that stores your health data. See our Privacy Policy for the limited data that leaves your device.
3. Not Medical Advice
Aescle is not a medical device, diagnosis, or treatment plan. Outputs are order-of-magnitude estimates derived from population-level research. They are educational in nature and may not reflect your individual circumstances.
Do not use Aescle to make medical decisions in isolation. Consult a licensed physician for diagnosis, treatment, medication changes, or any clinical question. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
4. Your Responsibilities
You agree that:
- The data you enter is your own, or you have the right to use it.
- You will not rely on Aescle as your sole source of health information.
- You will not use Aescle to provide medical advice to others.
- You are responsible for keeping local copies of any data you want to preserve.
5. Accuracy and Sources
Risk estimates draw from peer-reviewed sources (NCHS life tables, CDC cause-of-death data, cohort studies including UK Biobank and Framingham, and published meta-analyses). Each estimate links back to its source where practical. The underlying research has its own assumptions, populations, and limitations; treat the outputs as informed approximations, not precise forecasts.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Some features may require a paid subscription. If you purchase a subscription, payment is charged to your Apple ID account, and your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Prices and the features included in a paid plan are shown in the app at the point of purchase.
Purchases and renewals are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled according to Apple's policies. We use a third-party provider (RevenueCat) to manage subscription state; we do not receive your payment-card details.
7. Third-Party Services
Optional features rely on third-party services — for example, Google Calendar (if you connect it) and an AI provider used to classify how you spend your time. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant provider's terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and they may change or become unavailable.
8. Intellectual Property
The Aescle software, design, and content are owned by the operator. You are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, or republish the application without permission.
Inputs you provide remain yours. Because we do not receive your health data, we make no claim over it.
9. No Warranty
The service is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We make no representation that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate for your specific situation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of Aescle is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service — including any decision you make on the basis of its outputs. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it.
11. Changes to the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. New functionality is delivered through app updates.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date above will be revised when we do. Continued use of Aescle after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
14. Apple App Store
These Terms are between you and the operator of Aescle, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation, and any claims relating to the app — including product liability, non-conformity with legal requirements, or consumer-protection claims — are our responsibility, not Apple's. If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for handling that claim. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
